Three ways to run Drupal on AWS - Amazon Web Services (morning)

Session Category DevOps Room Other Audience N/A Time Slot Thu 8:00am to 8:45am (7/8/21)

Training Description

This is a hands-on lab/workshop to teach you how to run Drupal in your own AWS account. We will look at three different ways to deploy Drupal...

  1. AWS Lightsail: The cheap and easy way: Deploy Drupal on AWS using Lightsail, a low-cost, shared server based solution for quick deployment of small sites.
  1. AWS Quickstart: Server-based High-Availability solution that’s easy to deploy using Amazon’s Cloud Formation Template.
  1. AWS EKS: The Cloud Native (Kubernetes) way: A container based auto-scaling fault tolerant system that can host hundreds of sites and handle all kinds of loads and spikes.

We’ll see how each one works and discuss the pros and cons of each approach. You’ll also learn how you can get started with each approach.

Who is your ideal audience member, the person who would get the most out of your training?

This session is for Developers, SysAdmins, and Development / Project Managers who want to learn to use AWS (Amazon Web Services.)

What do you expect people to be able to take away from your training?

At the end of this session, attendees will be able to…

  1. Deploy Drupal in several different ways on AWS
  2. Setup, host, and manage multiple Drupal sites on AWS
  3. Be able to use the AWS dashboard to manage their Drupal instance
  4. Tear down their Drupal instances and infrastructure

How much and what kind of technical knowledge do people need going in to your training?

Attendees should have some experience setting up production Drupal sites on hosting providers. Familiarity with AWS is preferred but not required.

NOTE: You will need your own AWS account for this class... we will walk you through creating it if you don't already have one.
